책 소개
Introduction TOEIC(Test of English for International Communication)은 국제적으로 통용되는 영어를 얼마나 이해하는지 평가하는 공인된 시험이다. 한국에서는 1982년에 처음으로 시행되어 현재는 매년 200만 명에 가까운 수험자들이 응시하고 있다. 2006년 5월에는 일부 문제의 유형이 변경되고, 국제 언어인 영어를 주로 사용하는 미국, 캐나다, 영국, 호주 등의 다양한 발음이 사용되는 New TOEIC이 시행되었다. New TOEIC은 Listening Test와 Reading Test 두 가지 영역으로 이루어져 있다. Listening Test는 네 개의 파트로 되어 있고 Reading Test는 세 개의 파트로 되어 있다. Listening Test는 구어를 이해하는 능력을 평가하고 Reading Test는 문법과 언어의 관용법에 대한 지식 그리고 단문을 읽고 이해하는 능력을 평가한다. 각 영역은 100문제씩으로 이루어져 있고 모두 선다형이며, 파트2에는 한 문제당 3개의 선택지가 나오고 나머지 파트에서는 4개의 선택지가 나온다. Listening Test에 45분, Reading Test에 1시간 15분 정도가 소요되어 전체 시험을 푸는데 걸리는 시간은 대략 2시간 정도이다.
