『외부의 눈으로 본 한국 아카이브: 독일편 해제집』은 국립경국대학교 인문·사회·IT대학 인문·문화학부 교수 전성건, 독일 루르보훔대학교 동아시아학부 한국학과 전임강사 윤재원, 독일 루르보훔대학교 동아시아학 도서관 한국자료 목록 담당자 남지미, 공주교육대학교 교육학과 교수 이우진, 한국교원대학교 제2대학 윤리교육과 교수 김민재, 한국교원대학교 제1대학 초등교육과 교수 김현욱, 한아재고전연구소 소장 함영대, 한국국학진흥원 인문융합학술원 책임연구위원 이남옥의 노고로 이루어진 것이다. 연구 범위는 독일 내 주요 공공 디지털 자료원과 학술 데이터베이스를 중심으로 설정하였으며, 단행본과 정기간행물을 핵심 대상으로 삼았다. 자료의 시기적 범위는 1870년부터 1945년까지로 설정하였고, 이 범위는 독일어권에서 한국에 대한 학술적·사회적 인식이 형성·변화해 가는 과정을 살펴볼 수 있는 시기로 판단되어 연구 과정에서 일관되게 유지되었다. 또한 자료의 물리적 상태와 접근 가능성에 따라 디지털 원문 확보, 직접 스캔, OCR 적용 가능성 검토 등을 병행하여 연구 범위를 탄력적으로 운영하였다. 본 연구를 통해 총 1,117종의 독일어 한국 관련 문헌을 확보하였으며, 이 가운데 단행본 178권, 정기간행물 949권이 포함되어 있다. 자료는 단행본(E), 정기간행물(Z), 문학(L), 교재(T)로 분류하였고, 연구 초기 단계에서는 연구 활용도가 높은 단행본과 정기간행물을 중심으로 목록 작업을 진행하였다. 이러한 목록화 성과는 독일어권 한국학 자료의 현황을 종합적으로 파악할 수 있는 기초 자료군을 구축하였다는 점에서 대표적인 연구 성과로 평가할 수 있다.
