The Timeless Wisdom of Korean Seon Masters is an English translation of excerpts from the original Korean book Great Masters, Great Teachings, published in 2006 by the author Chungkwang Yoon. The Timeless Wisdom of Korean Seon Masters contains the collected legends of great Korean Seon Masters, from the time of the Three Kingdoms’ Period to the modern era. Although the book does not deal directly with traditional Seon-style questions and answers, it conveys the teachings in the form of everyday dialogues, allowing readers to have more direct contact with the sincere, inspired teachings of renowned Seon masters. We hope that readers will be better able to comprehend the essence of Korean Buddhism through this encounter with its principle teachings and culture facets. Moreover, we hope that the profound teachings of these Seon masters will enable those living in this modern world to regain their original wisdom and motivation to live a more fulfilling life. We would like to thank the author of this book, Chungkwang Yoon, for assembling these various forgotten cultural resources that had been displaced from the collective consciousness, in order to create this anecdotal model for future generations.
