책 소개

Remarks on Publishing Admiral Yi Sun-shinI graduated from the Republic of Korea Naval Academy in 1959 and retired from the navy as a vice admiral at the end of 1990. During my service in the navy, I undertook various duties, including being the superintendent of the Korean Naval Academy. Upon my retirement from the navy, I was offered the position of president of Woong-jin Publishing Company, where I worked for the next ten years. Successively, I worked as the presidentof Hyupsung University, the president of the Korean Publishers Association, and the vice president of the IPA (International Publishers Association). Over the course of my career, Admiral Yi Sun-shin was the guide of my mind, and I came to realize that there was no proper publication for foreign readers who want to learn about thehistoric figure of Admiral Yi Sun-shin. There have been various records on Admiral Yi Sun-shin as he was a famous naval commander in world history, known in both the Orient and the West. With this opportunity, I would like to shed light on the real character and accomplishments of Admiral Yi through the correct historical records rather than superficial commendation. I sincerely hope that many readers who are interested in Admiral Yi will realize the true value of his virtues with this book. I convey deep thanks to those who helped me make thispublication possible with writing, editing, and translation. Baek Sok-gheePresident, Gong-ok Publishing House
