책 소개

Preface Fish is food: providing nutrition and livelihoods for millions of people across the world. Because the fish processing industry sits between the fish producer and the consumer there is a need for influences from both sides to be considered. The aim of the book is to spark an interest not only in the technologies which can ensure a sustainable world fishery but also the contexts in which they operate. Fishery Bio-economics is the study of how limited fisheries resources are allocated among unlimited wants. Most bio-economics analysis of the fishery involves the application of standard microeconomic tools commonly used to analyze the firm and industry. The first unique feature to account for is that harvest involves extraction of a renewable resource. The second unique feature is that most fisheries are under open access that is property rights are not private and exclusive. These two supply-side characteristics give rise to a number of interesting analytical and policy issues. The guidelines were produced by Overseas Fisheries Cooperation Centre (OFCC) in collaboration with Ministry of Ocean and Fisheries (MOF) as part of South Korea ODA programs for South Pacific Countries.
