Book Description This exhibition essay documents the creative process behind artist Sue Jungsuh Lim's counter-mapping project across the Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH) region. Without drawing national borders, the work re-maps the region through natural layers—tectonic plates, glaciers, watersheds, ecoregions, and atmospheric flow. The essay follows the collaborative process that began at the UR Field Lab in Kathmandu, working alongside researchers from Nepal, India, Bangladesh, and Bhutan; the inclusion of "Toba Tek Singh" as a marker of partition and longing; and the sentences written along the wind after Cyclone Remal struck Bangladesh. Throughout, the artist asks whether a map can become a tool for memory and connection rather than power and conflict. V1 (2024), screen-printed on traditional Nepali lokta paper, was exhibited at Bikalpa Art Center in Kathmandu. V2 (2025), a digital print, was invited to Fragile Frontlines at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia.
