책 소개
For a long time, I believed that the solitary path of scholarship my father walked was a parallel line that had nothing to do with me. At times, his stubborn passion and determination became seeds of conflict, and there were long periods when we wandered in a tunnel of misunderstanding, unable to reach each other’s hearts. However, as I stood by my father’s side while he compiled Volume 3 of *A History of Human Civilization*, I finally came face to face with the record of “life” that he had written with his very being. My father was not merely an investigator delving into the past. While silently enduring the hardships of daily life to support his children, he never let go of his studies for even a single moment—that was the dedicated figure I saw from behind. It was both the scholarly zeal of a scholar tracing the energy of humanity and the embodiment of the most noble sense of responsibility toward his family. With this acquisition of citizenship, I have taken on a new name: You So-hyun (劉昭賢). Just as this name embodies light and virtue, I too wish to contribute a small lamp to my father’s great challenge. The time spent translating my father’s vast investigative records into Thai was a precious process that healed the conflicts our family had faced in the past and helped us build a stronger bond. Just as my father discovered the value of existence within artifacts, I too am finding my true self and the purpose I must fulfill in this world by assisting in this great journey. Father, your life itself has been the greatest history textbook for me. Father, I am finally saying the words you so longed to hear. When I once called you “Father,” I could not find that look of joy on your face. Now, without regret, I call out the word “Father”—the one you so desperately wanted to hear—that I was unable to utter back then. I offer my deepest respect and gratitude for your passion, Father, as you picked up your pen for the sake of our family’s future and humanity’s legacy, never yielding even in the face of reality’s walls. Just as this book has been published and seen the light of day, I hope that an eternal flame of wisdom will burn within our family’s hearts. March 23, 2026 Your daughter, You So-hyun
