MOLTING — Youngin Kwon An uncle’s missing pet snake leaves only its skin behind. Through memories of a father, a childhood home, and years spent changing her own appearance, a woman traces the secrets beneath her family’s familiar faces. THE MERMAN OF H COUNTY — Youngin Kwon With her child gravely ill, a mother travels to a coastal village where a fisherman claims to have caught a merman. Her father believes its scales can save a life. As she seeks a cure, the fisherman’s household draws her into a disturbing mystery. PEHERA’S CURSE — Suyeon Bae After a devastating laboratory incident, a guilt-ridden researcher is sent to investigate an abandoned village and its stories of a sacred butterfly. Among overgrown houses and paths that seem to lead her onward, she searches for a creature whose history may be more troubling than the legends suggest. Combining psychological mystery, folklore, and unsettling fantasy, these three short stories follow people whose longing for love, survival, or forgiveness brings them to the edge of what they can explain. Three complete stories, translated from Korean and collected in one English-language volume. Published by Nabiwabook.
