책 소개
Where Past and Present Meet / 과거와 현재가 만나는 순간 Beyond Eunpyeong Hanok Village, along Bukhansan slopes, Jingwansa Temple chanting spreads softly. Beneath hanok roofs, modern time flows. Old memories still breathe in the mountains. Now, yet not entirely now. Then, yet not entirely then. Newcomers’ hours settle in, yet traces of the past remain. Where times overlap, we ask what coexistence means. Jegangmal and Jaemal. Names from jaesil—ceremonial halls. This land once honored the departed. Life and death met naturally here. Cheoljong built a shrine here after laying his grandfather to rest. It was his only act of filial devotion. Now, modern hanok homes rise. Tombs moved, shrines gone. But the village names remain. The Eunpyeong Hanok History Museum displays artifacts unearthed here. A shard of pottery, a single roof tile, holding the breath of past residents. The sunset over the village blends what remains and what has vanished. The shrines are gone, but Jegangmal endures. Speaking its name brings past and present together.
