책 소개

Walking the Old Path In the early evening, I walk the alleys of Bulgwang-dong. This neighborhood now sits in the midst of redevelopment. What looked worn and tired in daylight reveals a completely different face in darkness. Under pale streetlights, only shadows stretch along the ground. The noise of the day fades, and the sound of footsteps fills the still air. Who are these people? What did their day look like? The next morning, I move toward Changneungcheon. From Hyoja Valley in Bukhansan, the stream flows toward the Han River. Modern buildings rise like walls along the banks. A primitive statue holding a stone axe stands next to a humble Buddha figure. People pass by without noticing. What remains, and what disappears. When things vanish under civilization, do our memories wash away too? Now, yet not entirely now. Then, yet not entirely then. On this old path, we meet the layered and wild “time that has grown thick.” Even in passing footsteps, even in the silence of abandoned sculptures, the traces of lived time breathe. Photos record them, and memory carries them forward. Autumn 2026 Hongsahn
