Korean Photo Essay Collection III — Time: Moments That Overlap brings together Essays 07–09 of Season I (01–30) of The Korean Photo Essay Archive, continuing the long-term project that gathers 90 photo essays into 30 collected volumes. The series records Korea's principal historical and cultural spaces through paired photography and prose, systematically accumulating the changing face of place across the passage of time. This volume is organized around the theme of "time that overlaps," centered on Gijachon Village and Umulgol, Sangnim Village and Pokpodong, and Hanok Village and Jegakmal. The essay on Gijachon Village and Umulgol records how two layers of time — a 1970s journalists' village and a Joseon-era courier station — settle into a single place, while the essay on Sangnim Village and Pokpodong reveals the continuity of time through a landscape where life and death coexist. The essay on Hanok Village and Jegakmal considers the relationship between memory and disappearance through a village still bearing traces of those who left. Each essay stands independently, centered on a single place, in the paired photograph-and-text form that defines the series. This structure secures both the completeness of each individual record and the extensibility of the series as a whole; this volume serves as one part of an archive that records the way multiple layers of time accumulate within a single place.
