책 소개
The future will be a time in which learning becomes central to life, and therefore lifelong study will be more common. Most people believe that if a teacher teaches well, students can learn better. Therefore, many educators claim that the quality of education cannot surpass the quality of the teachers. However, the quality of teachers should not be seen as a synonym for the quality of learning. Regardless of the teacher's capability, students can study better when they are learning on their own. When a teacher tries to improve their teaching skill, it is eventually assumed that students are very passive. In other words, from this point of view, the student’s learning is a by product of the teacher’s teaching. However, we believe that increasing the student's learning ability is more important. If students are not learning, improving teachers' capability to teach is not necessarily the solution. Even though there is an effort to improve teachers' capability through workshops, student's learning may not improve. Most Korean students spend their school days studying for university, and even after graduation, they study hard to get a job. However, many undergraduates experience the feeling of confusion and a sense of loss at university. These feelings get worse when they do not have an appropriate learning strategy for university study. The learning strategy introduced in this book is made for those university students, and it is modified to apply to elementary and middle school students. This program has been proven to be effective through application to elementary and middle school students for many years. Especially, I recommend this program to those students who are not yet aware of self-learning. Moreover, I advise schools or other educational institutions not just to say 'study hard' to students, but to help them to discover their real dreams and to make those dreams come true through adopting this program. This book is composed as follows. The first book is about time management. The amount of learning is directly proportional to the time spent on learning. This means, as time is spent more on learning, the more things are studied. The important thing is that this is not the time spent on sitting at the desk, but the time spent to concentrate on learning. Students who have lost their goals, do not know why they have to learn. Therefore, learning begins from how students manage their time: Time Management. Students who read this book can learn how to develop their dreams and how to manage the time effectively to make those dreams come true. The second book is about Concentration Strategy. Managing time well can increase concentration, but there are also many different ways that have been developed to improve concentration. From this book, students can realize which type of concentration is inappropriate, and learn how to overcome this. The third book is about Memory Strategy. No matter how much time is spent studying, if it is all forgotten after a day, this is worthless. Therefore, the academic achievement level of students who learn to memorize well will be higher than that of students who are not aware of those methods. Fourthly, in Reading Strategy, through a new approach, students can be taught and learn easily. Especially, the inference part of readings, which most students find difficult, is subdivided so that it can be learned step by step. Finally, Test Management in Learning Strategy covers systematically from the daily study habits and attitude towards tests to preparation just before the tests , a simulation of taking a real test and analysis after the test. In addition, it helps to gauge how much students feel nervous about tests, and suggests a ways to overcome test anxiety. As a result, this can be a great help to those who are worried a lot about tests. These five learning strategies are specially structured as a teaching guideline to be easily transferred to students by teachers, so I believe that this woul…
