Nature, Human, and Space At some point in my life, I began to feel a desire to direct various kinds of works within this world. Where a space projects one’s mind and where the mind reciprocally conforms with the space. In short, I wanted to design spaces that would be able to touch people’s souls with the highest level of sentiments. The beginning of this aspiration can be traced back to my old habits of chasing curiosity and observing people and objects with great detail. This triggered a passion inside me to create new environments where I actively include nature into the equation along with small interior spaces and architecture. The first step in constructing a new environment is to incorporate nature’s prosperity and music into a space. Perhaps because of this reason, I am currently deeply into farming and gardening. Unlike the fast-paced world that surrounds us, gardening walks me down a reversed path that is slow and steady. It is also a path that I have chosen to take in order to contemplate and heal my weary soul. Francis Bacon, an English philosopher, once said, “A man shall ever see, that when ages grow to civility and elegancy, men come to build stately sooner than to garden finely, as if gardening were the greater perfection.” As we become more intimate with nature, it will in turn try to take care of us as well. By cultivating nature within a particular space, through time, buildings will slowly meld into nature. As if the architecture had always been among nature… I believe that it is now the time to reveal designs, as designers and architects, that are not solely limited to those that meet the demands of our society and clients, but are also ones that we consciously choose to show our society. So, what kinds of design do I want to show? A space that understands, adjoins, and is opened towards nature; additionally, a design with tradition. Even in the wave of globalization, tradition is still a precious essence for design. Design is now accepted as something of the highest value that can change people’s quality of life and influence the future. Accordingly, as an analog designer and environmental architect in today’s world, I will contemplate how to incorporate new values into environments that bring more joy and pleasure to people, and I will continue to build upon my own personal narrative on nature, human, and space.
