IntroductionLiterature is the art of words expressing unusual experiences to be unique. Above all, lyric poetry is the basic form of literary art in which sense, emotion and meaning are harmonized with each other to be expressed, while epic poetry describes the reality of society and history. According to the theory of literature, the lyric genre shows experiences emotionally, while the epic genre shows completed experiences.When readers appreciate a lyric poem that&#039s emotionally appealing, they should not read only the surface aspect of the poem, but they should grasp the connotation of the poem as well as the poet&#039s own sensibility.Of the 32 Korean classical literary genres, sijo is the only traditional literary genre surviving till now, and it shows the outstanding characteristics as a lyric genre. Sijo is a short poem with a fixed form, &#0393-line, 6-phrase, 12-segment&#039. The form of sijo came from that of East Asian poetry that has four lines or steps like introduction - development - turn - conclusion. The third line, that is, the &#039turn&#039 step is fixed into the first segment of the third line of sijo with an attempt to turn or twist the rhythm and poetic idea. The second segment of the third line of sijo has five syllables, but one or two syllables can be added to it, showing leisurely flexibility. Like this, it is sijo that has the superb beauty of form.
