책 소개

This book is an archive of the MMCA Hyundai Motor Series, a partnership between the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea and Hyundai Motor Company that has been organizing annual exhibitions with esteemed Korean artists for a decade. This initiative aims to expand the boundaries of Korean art by connecting these prominent creators with a global audience, contributing to a sustainable international art ecosystem. Over the past ten years, the world has faced a global pandemic, an AI revolution, wars, migration challenges, and climate crises, which have brought about geopolitical, socioeconomic, and technical changes globally. It has never been as important to recognize and examine the social value and role of art. We hope that by revisiting ten years of the MMCA Hyundai Motor Series, we can look back on the past, reflect on the present, and prepare for a better future. 《MMCA 현대차 시리즈 2014–2023》은 국립현대미술관과 현대자동차의 파트너십의 일환인 MMCA 현대차 시리즈를 기록하기 위해 출간되었습니다. MMCA 현대차 시리즈는 독자적 작업 세계를 구축해온 작가를 지원하고 지속 가능한 예술 생태계에 기여함으로써 한국 미술의 경계를 확장하고 전 세계 관객과 소통하는 것을 목표로 합니다. MMCA 현대차 시리즈가 함께한 지난 10년 동안 인류는 전염병, 인공지능, 전쟁, 이주 문제, 기후 위기 등으로 인해 다양한 지정학적 · 사회 경제적 · 기술적 변화를 경험해 왔습니다. 예술의 사회적 가치에 대한 반성적 태도와 예술가의 역할이 그 어느 때보다 중요했던 시기였습니다. MMCA 현대차 시리즈의 지난 10년간의 기록을 통해, 현재를 점검하고 더 나은 미래를 위한 준비의 시간이 될 수 있기를 바랍니다.
