책 소개
시조는 저에게 아버지를 떠오르게 합니다. 어릴 적부터, ‘동창이 밝았느냐 노고지리 우지진다 ~’ 시조를 창唱으로 읊으시는 아버지 음성에 아침을 맞았습니다. 아버지는 우리 고전문학을 가르치는 국어선생님이셨어요. 그 시절에는 시조 카드라는 게 있어서, 저의 가족은 둘러 앉아 시조 카드놀이를 자주 했습니다. 시조의 초, 중, 종장이 따로 나누어 진 카드 석 장을 재빨리 찾아 모으는 사람은 아버지께 듬뿍 칭찬을 들었지요. 그 때 저에게는 은연중에 ‘나는 이 다음에 시조 쓰는 사람이 되고 싶다’는 꿈이 싹텄나 봅니다.먼 길을 돌아 해거름에야 시조와 다시 인연이 닿았습니다. 「시조생활」 단체에 들어와 보니, 제가 진작에 왔어야 할 곳에, 이미 와서 활약하고 계신 많은 선생님들을 뵙고 얼마나 고맙고 감격스러웠는지요.이제 저도, 제 잠재의식 속에 그리던 시조의 모천母川에 이르렀습니다. 마음으로부터 존경하는 여러 문우님들께 배워가며 지어 본 시조들, 여기 조심스레 펼쳐 봅니다. 과숙체락瓜熟蒂落이라더군요, 열매가 익어 저절로 꼭지가 떨어져야할 것을, 저는 지금 채 익지도 않은 것들을 따고 있는지도 모릅니다.저에게 시조사랑의 씨앗을 심어 주신 제 아버지께, 그 씨앗 틔어 낼 꽃밭을 내어 주시고 거름 주신 시천柴川 유성규 박사님께 깊은 감사와 존경의 마음으로 이 책을 헌정합니다.Sijo reminds me of my father. I recall how, when I wasa child, I used to hear him in the morning reciting a Sijoin Chang (Korean traditional classic song) entitled “DoesDawn Light the East Window? Already Larks Sing in theSky.” He was a teacher of the Korean language specializingin Korean Classical Literature. At the time, we had a Sijocard game, which our family often played at home as acontest. The contestant who first remembered more Sijopoems than others would successfully pick up three cards(after completing a three-lined Sijo poem) and would winthe game with high praise from my father. After that time,my dream of writing Sijo unknowingly sprouted.One day at sunset, during the long journey of my life,I had the fortunate opportunity to get in touch with Sijoliterature. I was so thankful and my heart was so touchedwhen I found out that a lot of Sijo poets had already beenactively working at TPWAW (Traditional Poetry WritersAssociation of the World), an association which I should have earlier been involved with. At long last, I have arrived at the ‘Parent Stream of Sijo’, which is something I have unconsciously dreamed of.Now, it is a pleasure to publish my collected Sijo poems, modeled after respectful senior Sijo poets who came before me. I wish to quote an old saying, “Fruits fall when they are naturally ripe.” I fear if I have picked them before they fully ripened.I would like to dedicate this book of my collected Sijo poems to my father, who planted the first seed of my love for Sijo, and, with great thanks and deep respect, to Sicheon Yew Suhng-Gyou (Ph.D.), who has provided me with a flower garden for this seed to sprout its buds and grow.
