책 소개

This textbook has been specifically developed for teaching practical communication skills to students engaged in, or contemplating, tertiary level (university) education. Students focus on the acquisition of real-world communication skills required for success in their academic and working lives. The approach taken in this series is rather novel, with a wide variety of activities incorporating listening and visual media in the form of both audio and film, combined with reading, writing and speaking exercises in a variety of diverse formats including activities, exercises and games, all intended to stimulate students in their practice of the skills being focused on. For the book layout of the text, rigid chapter lengths and structures have not been adhered to. Rather, the length of the units and the form of the content varies greatly, dependent on the requirements for each specific topic. Thus, no topic skips important elements, while simultaneously the variety keeps students attentive and on their toes. Before embarking on a course utilising this textbook, students should ideally have a reasonable grasp of the English language and a Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) rating of A2 (simple everyday communication) or above. For more advanced users, it should be noted that this textbook is so pragmatically skills focused that many native English speakers would likely benefit from its use. I would like to end this brief introduction by thanking all of those who participated in the creation of this text, whether it be through feedback or advice, or directly through content.
