The missionary who prepared to sow the seeds of the Gospel in Joseon(Corea) for the first time was not a missionary dispatched from England or the United States, but a Scottish missionary, who is not well-known to us. Examining the history of the Korean Bible translation and distribution project, the Ross version of the Korean Bible, which was translated and published by the Scottish Rev. John Ross, Rev. John MacIntyre and Korean people from 1877 to 1892, is the first Korean Bible(예수셩교 누가복음젼서). The reports of the missionaries who supervised the colportage work are overflowing with praise for these colporteurs and Biblewomen. This compilation is an excerpt and adaptation of the reports of the Korean Agency from the Annual Reports published by the BFBS each year. The praise for the colporteurs and Biblewomen, featured in the annual reports, continued even in the final report before the missionaries were forcibly expelled by the Japanese.
