책 소개
한글의 자음ㆍ모음을 단순한 문자 형태가 아닌 색을 품은 조형 언어로 재해석한 작업으로, 한글의 아름다움과 철학을 전 세계 누구나 체험할 수 있도록 만든 책이다. 이상현 작가는 이 원리를 현대적 감각으로 풀어내어 한글의 획과 구조 속에 청·적·황·백·흑의 오방색을 직관적으로 경험하도록 한다. 각 작품은 색과 형태가 만나는 지점에서 한글을 하나의 예술적 풍경으로 확장시키며, 보는 이가 직접 색을 채워 넣는 순간, 글자는 더 이상 문자에 머물지 않고 하나의 예술 작품으로 완성되어 간다. 안유미 작가는 물길과 철길이 만나 만들어진 도시를 아름다운 캘리그라피와 그림으로 소개하고 있다. 익산의 북쪽 끝엔 금강이 흐르고, 남쪽 끝엔 만경강이 흐른다. 아주 먼 옛날 사람들은 물길을 따라 이 기름진 땅에 터를 잡았다. 우리나라에서 가장 오래된 석탑인 미륵사지석탑이 익산 금마에 남아있다. 익산은 '고도 보존 및 육성에 관한 특별법'이 정한 우리나라 '5대 고도'에 경주, 공주, 부여 그리고 고령과 함께 이름을 올리고 있다. 2015년엔 공주ㆍ부여와 함께 '백제역사유적지구'로 유네스코 세계유산에 등재되기도 했다.
